What The Dreaming is, and what it is not
The Dreaming is a tool for self-knowledge. It is not therapy, and it does not replace a therapist, a psychologist, a psychiatrist or any other mental health professional.
Not therapy
Nothing the app offers — the readings, the Psyche report, the Oracle’s answers — is a diagnosis, a treatment or clinical advice. None of it should be the basis for decisions about your health, your medication or your care.
What it is for
Its purpose is to help you keep your dreams, notice what recurs in them and reflect on what they may mean to you. It can also support therapy guided by a professional: many people bring their dreams to the session, and the journal and its readings can be material for that conversation, never a substitute for it. For those who see patients on the Analyst plan, the readings inform their own clinical judgement; they do not replace it.
How the readings are made
The interpretations are generated by artificial intelligence through the lens of C. G. Jung’s analytical psychology (and, on the Prism plan, Freud’s and Adler’s as well). They are reflective, not clinical: possibilities to consider, not facts about you. AI can be wrong, and only you, ideally in conversation with a professional, can say what a dream means in your life.
If you are struggling
If you are going through significant distress, reach out to a mental health professional. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, contact your local emergency services or a crisis line in your country right away.
